At the Coalition:
TravelChoice Neighborhood Canvassers
TALC’s TravelChoice is an innovative new program
to reduce auto trips. The educational campaign
uses innovative social marketing techniques and is
modeled after similar projects around the world.
It follows successful campaigns in 2007 in South
Berkeley and 2006 in Oakland’s Fruitvale district.
TravelChoice will contact approximately 9,000
households in West Berkeley by the end of this
spring, with the goal of reducing solo driving
trips by 9% by increasing transit usage, biking,
and walking. In West Berkeley neighborhoods,
canvassers will discuss transportation habits with
residents and offer information about clean
transportation options.
