May 31, 2000 Press Conference
The report was released at a
press conference on May 31, 2000 in Oakland. Representatives of community and
social justice groups attended and spoke at the press conference.
Many of these groups also
signed on to a letter to the Governor and state legislators that was also
publicly unveiled at the press conference. The letter, coordinated by Urban
Habitat Program, called for transportation justice through the implementation of
a few key changes to Governor Davis' proposed plan. Most of these changes are
also recommended in the report.
