Revitalizing Local Neighborhoods

An unfortunate consequence of our existing planning and policy environment is that it is often much cheaper to build on “greenfields,” or undeveloped land, than it is to build within existing communities. Ironically, existing neighborhoods are often starved for the new housing, new businesses, and new life currently springing up on the urban fringe. This toolbox provides solutions to encourage redevelopment and revitalization in existing communities, as well as campaigns that communities can pursue independently of development to make their neighborhoods more vibrant and livable.
