Trainings and Technical Assistance now available for low-income communities
For community groups in the Bay Area's low-income and people-of-color communities, TALC is offering free training for leaders and volunteers, and free technical assistance to help you win the transportation your community needs.

Trainings cover a “Who's Who” of transportation decision makers and help you identify the best opportunities to win the transportation changes you need. Trainings are typically two hours and are individually tailored to your group’s situation and issues. We can also give a brief presentation as part of your organizations regular meeting.

    Shape TALC's future direction

Help shape the direction of TALC's work. TALC's Board of Directors is leading a comprehensive review of our platform, as well as formulating a new three-year strategic plan. The three campaigns that generate the most interest from our member group representatives will automatically become part of the strategic plan. Additional initiatives will be chosen based on feedback, enthusiasm and likely participation by member and affiliate groups, individual activists, as well as allied organizations. The final strategic plan will be adopted by TALC's Board of Directors in March 2005.

Please read more and give us your feedback at: www.transcoalition.org/stratplan

Weigh in on AC Transit's proposed BRT project along International/East 14th/Telegraph
TALC has started a community outreach campaign in East Oakland to raise awareness about AC Transit's East Oakland BRT project and to involve the community in the design process to make sure community needs are met and the project provides the greatest benefit. The proposed BRT project will reduce travel time on the corridor by up to 40% and dramatically improve service along the well-traveled route. To learn more about our campaign, to set up a presentation, to request materials, or to simply talk about this project, please contact Amber Crabbe, TALC's Program Coordinator, at amber@transcoalition.org or (510) 740-3105.

Support safer streets in San Jose's Mayfair neighborhood

The Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is planning to build a light rail or enhanced bus station to serve the Mayfair neighborhood, but will you feel safe and comfortable walking or biking to the station once it is built? Will the station's design and the new developments around it reflect the needs of our community? This is a great opportunity for you to share your ideas and express your opinions. Dinner and child care provided free. An English/Spanish interpreter will be present.
